Session Description
This session is designed to help understand the nuances of sound, EQ, loudness and how to communicate this information to your techs and musicians. One of the barriers to great sound in your church is how technical staff, vocalist and musicians communicate with each other. Come hear Nathan, a sound engineer and technical director for Centre Street Church in Calgary, one of Canada’s largest churches, as he shares tips on how artists and techs can communicate more effectively with a common goal in mind. ![]() Nathan Picklyk Upon completion of an undergraduate degree in violin, Nathan became interested in the technical side of music and production and went on to complete a Masters of Music in Audio Engineering at McGill University. Following this formal education, he worked three seasons with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as an Audio Engineer, and several years as Technical Arts Director with Rivers Edge Community Church in Montreal, Quebec. Nathan's educational background, combined with his work-related experiences, have afforded him many opportunities to assist in bridging the challenging gap that is often found between artists and technicians, facilitating healthy working relationships that allow each to work towards their common goals. Nathan presently works at Centre Street Church in Calgary, Alberta, as a Technical Director. Nathan's wife, Deanna, and son Emerson, both do a wonderful job of ensuring that he is not at work seven days a week! www.cschurch.ca |
